How we determine a cheater
No bots. No guessing. Real modders with thousands of hours reading the game the way only experience lets you.
What we look at
Because you can't scan a console for cheat devices, we determine a cheater the way experienced players do — through behavior, tendencies, and results. These are the biggest signals:
Shot selection & timing
Perfect greens on contested, off-balance, or low-percentage shots — game after game — with the same release frame. Real shooters miss; scripts don't.
Stats vs. player build
Output that doesn't match the build. A playmaking build putting up impossible scoring splits, or a stat line no attribute set should produce, is a red flag.
Behavior & tendencies
How someone moves, dribbles, reacts, and defends. Inhuman reaction times, frame-perfect steals, and macro-timed animations stand out fast.
Consistency across games
Anyone can have one great game. We look for the same unnatural patterns repeating across multiple matches and multiple reporters.
We're not gatekeeping great players. Legitimately elite players exist, and high stats alone never flag anyone. We only act when the full picture — stats, build, behavior, and consistency across games — points to cheating.

Think you were wrongfully flagged?
We get it — no system is perfect, and we'd rather fix a mistake than stand on one. If you believe you were wrongfully marked, we want to make it right.
Open a Ban Appeal ticket on our Discord and send a handcam clip. A valid handcam clearly shows, in one continuous shot: your controller in full view with nothing plugged into it (no adapters, dongles, Cronus/XIM or any third-party device), your hands on that controller, and your game screen at the same time. Seeing you actually play the way you play is the fastest way for us to clear your name and make sure we don't flag you again in the future.
Play it the same way you got flagged. Your handcam has to match the clip and stats that got you here. If a clip shows you draining contested half-court shots and your in-game shooting stats read inhuman — like a 3PT field-goal percentage sitting near 90% — but on your appeal cam you suddenly play like a regular hooper and can't hit those shots — that mismatch confirms the report instead of clearing it. Recreate the exact same shots, builds, and playstyle from the evidence. Genuine players can repeat their game; cheaters can't.
Heads up on timing: appeal replies can take a while. We keep our team small and trusted — to be a modder you need thousands of hours across multiple 2Ks — so there aren't a ton of vetted people reviewing appeals. We'll always get to yours; please be patient with us.
Our role & the legal bit
- We don't ban anyone. We have no ability to ban, suspend, or penalize any account. All we do is collect community reports, have experienced players vet them, and surface suspected cheaters. Any decision to ban is solely 2K's — they review the clips and act entirely at their own discretion.
- We're a community, not an authority. Our goal is simply to expedite the process and expose cheaters quickly, giving 2K organized, evidence-backed cases faster than the standard report flow.
- Listings are good-faith community opinions based on gameplay evidence and experience. They are allegations and observations — not statements of fact, legal findings, or proof of wrongdoing.
- Not affiliated with 2K. 2K Case Files is an independent, fan-run project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to 2K Games, Visual Concepts, or Take-Two Interactive. All game names and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
- Mistakes & removal. No system is perfect. If you believe you were wrongly listed, use the appeal process above — we review every appeal and remove entries that don't hold up.
- Evidence & conduct. Only submit genuine gameplay footage you have the right to share. No doxxing, no real-life personal information, and no harassment of anyone listed. Content is user-submitted; we moderate but cannot guarantee every submission is accurate.
